EXHIBITION PREVIEW: Renata Stonyte

Photography is my key to the dream and fantasy world, my way to rabbit hole where imagination merges with the real world. Everything I see, feel and experience inspires me. My pictures usually come from a contact with things at that time and place taking and to how I respond to all of these things. I rarely pre-visualise or plan how my final print will look. My work tends to focus on fashion, portraiture and travel photography where I can transfer my aesthetic value and beauty of life into images.

"Through out the last year my work has been based around both documentary and portrait photography, trying to combine the two to create real and honest portraits and go against the stereotypical image of a portrait photograph. Trying to find out if it is possible to know who a person really is through a single photograph."

Capturing  what's in front of me keeps me taking photos, it's what I've always done & is the reason I'm at University.  But how do you capture a feeling?
Anxiety can manifest in so many ways - it can feel inescapable.  This series of images portrays the fading of minutes, hours & days...the loss of oneself to something intangible.

Terra Incognita- Unknown Land. This was a term cartographers used when labeling parts of the map that were undocumented.

These images are my attempt to explore this- these dreamlike horizons. The landscapes here were never really landscapes- they are just made of light and dust and shadows.

A home is a safe place. Everyone seems to feel comfortable in their own home. The four walls create a boundary between the inside and the outside world. Privacy is all we think abut. Locked doors, windows shut, curtains drawn. I will be focusing on the word 'privacy' and will be looking into why this word has such high importance in today's society.

I have produced a collection of images reflecting the beauty in femininity, while also exploring the idea of blossoming relationships. It all began with my intrigue of the unknown,searching for the hidden and unseen in people.

EXHIBITION PREVIEW: Chris Vieira

My work focuses mainly on deep explorations of the human mind, and how various mental stimulations are affected by defective illnesses. This results in most of my work depicting quite dark themes, with melancholy feelings present throughout. For the exhibition, I have specifically been looking at maladaptive behaviour, delusions and hallucinations - and representing my findings through my photographs.

Artist Profile: Nathalie Engel

Nathalie Engel's photographic work consistently revolves around fashion and portrait photography as she finds herself drawn to the beauty of the female form. Nathalie loves to edit and manipulate her own images and researching different techniques to develop her style. Whilst predominantly working with digital cameras she is starting to experiment with analogue and feels that she is still searching for who she is as a photographer.

Julia Tucker is a photographer who predominantly works in portraiture and documentary, experimenting with both analogue and digital techniques. Julia likes to focus on photographic themes based around the everyday, looking for the extra ordinary within the ordinary and recording it with a realistic style.

Artist Profile: Harris Gillespie

Harris Gillespie works mainly on producing documentary photography, using vivid lighting to create contrast within his images. Harris likes to adopt and play with the idea of a cinematic approach when producing his ideas, particularly with his portraiture shoots, and exploring the creation of subtle narratives. Figure in the landscape and the landscape itself are two common themes in Harris' work.

Australian photographer Jess Clark's body of work is an ongoing visual representation of the clutter and simplicity of life. Her work tends to focus on the mundane and the beauty of the everyday that many of us tend to miss. Jess documents objects, people and settings, exploring through an equal balance of analogue and digital techniques.

Artist Profile: Daniel Khammo

Daniel has always had a fascination with the aesthetics of the photograph, how photography freezes life and how time changes ones perception of moments past. That fascination continues to manifest itself through his broad interests, social documentary, portraiture, fashion, and picking out the details of life with a macro lense. He is most at ease with digital photography but has begun to experiment with film processes.

Artist Profile: Chris Vieira

Chris Vieira is a photographer who creates work that deals with personal experiences and who looks to relate to others through their response to his images. Chris tends to work digitally and likes to explore and experiment with how the medium can help him capture the feelings he aims to represent. Originally from Jersey, Chris also enjoys landscape photography which he shoots with a more relaxed approach.
